Terms of use

The agreement between you and RideTurns.

1. Who we are

RideTurns is provided by Holman Lane Publishing LLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using RideTurns you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

2. Who can use RideTurns

You must be 18 or older and the parent or legal guardian of any child you add, or have that parent's or guardian's permission. Accounts are for one person each; keep your sign-in email secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you.

3. What RideTurns is — and is not

RideTurns is a tool for families who already know each other to share out driving. It shows rides, who has offered to drive and who is riding, and links to maps and calendars.

RideTurns is not a transportation service, and we do not provide, arrange for pay, or supervise any ride. We do not check anyone's identity, driving record, licence, insurance, vehicle or background. Parents and guardians alone decide whether a particular person may drive their child, and are responsible for that decision.

If you drive, you are responsible for driving safely and lawfully: holding a valid licence and the insurance your jurisdiction requires, using appropriate car seats and seat belts for every child, keeping within your seat count, and never handling your phone in a way the law or good sense forbids. Do not use RideTurns while driving except hands-free.

4. Things that can go wrong

Rides can be missed, changed or double-booked; notifications and updates can be late; live location depends on your phone, its GPS and its signal, and stops when the app is closed or in the background on many phones; map directions can be wrong. Always confirm important arrangements directly with the other parent, and never rely on RideTurns alone for a child's safety.

5. Your information and content

You keep ownership of what you put into RideTurns. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people it is meant for — the families in your pools — so the service can work. You agree that what you add is accurate, is yours to share, and does not include anything about a child beyond a first name.

6. Using it fairly

Don't use RideTurns to harass anyone, to collect information about other families for any other purpose, for commercial transport, or to try to get into pools or accounts that aren't yours. Don't interfere with the service or try to get around its security. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

7. Invite links

Anyone with a pool’s invite link can join it and see information shared with that pool, so share it only with families you mean to include. If a link gets out, make a new one from the pool’s menu; the old one stops working.

8. Ending your use

You can leave a pool or delete your account at any time from the app. We do not undertake to operate, host, maintain or provide RideTurns indefinitely. We may modify, suspend or discontinue some or all of the service. For a planned permanent shutdown, we will endeavor to provide at least 30 days’ notice by email or within the service where reasonably practicable. Legal, security or urgent technical circumstances may require shorter notice. We will stop accepting new purchases and take reasonable steps to stop renewals for discontinued services. Refunds for unused prepaid service will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the purchase provider’s rules. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide an opportunity to export available account data before a planned shutdown. Nothing here excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subscription purchases

RideTurns is free to download. An Organizer plan lets an organizing family cover up to three pools; invited families can participate in covered pools without buying their own plan. A no-card trial, when offered, does not automatically become a paid subscription. Store purchases charge when you confirm them and renew automatically at the price and interval shown by the store unless cancelled through your store account. Cancellation stops future renewal and ordinarily leaves access available until the paid period ends, subject to refunds or revocation. You can restore eligible purchases in the app. Prices, taxes, billing, cancellation and refunds are also subject to the store's terms and applicable law. Deleting your RideTurns account does not cancel your store subscription. No purchase promises indefinite operation of RideTurns; the service-discontinuation provisions and non-excludable consumer rights still apply.

9. Disclaimers

RideTurns is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not promise that RideTurns will be uninterrupted, accurate or error-free.

10. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Holman Lane Publishing LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any injury, loss or damage arising from any ride or from the conduct of any user, driver or passenger. Our total liability for any claim relating to RideTurns is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50.

Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. If you keep using RideTurns after that, the new terms apply.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon and the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing any claim, please write to us so we can try to sort it out.

13. Optional assistants

You may connect an assistant you choose and authorize RideTurns to share the selected information described in our privacy policy. Share information only when you have authority to do so. Assistant providers are separate services governed by their own terms; RideTurns is not endorsed by them. Availability, connection and voice features may change or depend on your provider, plan and device. An assistant can misunderstand your request or give inaccurate information. Check dates, times, children and ride details before approving any suggestion, and confirm important arrangements directly with the other parent. Suggestions do not reserve seats or assign a driver before approval. Connecting an assistant does not change parents' responsibility for transportation and child safety or limit any rights that cannot be limited by law.
